Saltwater fishing in Alaska is totally worth the effort and cost. Enjoy a full or half day of fishing out of Seward, Deep Creek or Homer and you could potentially take a nice fish box home to your freezer. We recommend expert captains and outfitters who have been working these waters for years.
From halibut to lingcod to rockfish and salmon in the saltwater, you will be thrilled with the freshness and quality of the fish in Alaska’s oceans, and it’s a blast too. Some days are better than others for weather, so be prepared to reschedule if necessary if a saltwater trip is at the top of your list of to do’s. You can plan for a half day for smaller halibut or silvers in the bay in Seward or plan a multi-species bonanza with an expert captain and spend a large amount of a day targeting your limits on a variety of species.
Time of year is a little less important when it comes to the saltwater species as many of them can be found year round although the peak seasons are typically from May through October. Lingcod season opens July 1 if fishing for this delicious white fish is of interest to your group. They are generally targeted the remainder of the summer.
